Sweden 1758-HM ore

from the Stack's Bowers 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75443

This specimen was lot 75443 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $960. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Ore, 1758-HM. Stockholm Mint. Adolf Friedrich. NGC MS-62. Though composed of over 80% base metal, the flan still appears silver. Brilliant, wispy charcoal fields contrast gunmetal devices. A rarely offered silver Ore that series specialists seldom have the opportunity to acquire, especially when preserved in gorgeous Mint State." This type was struck 1753-58 and 1761, of which the 1761 is the most common date. Copper öre were also struck at this time.
