Heritage sale 3064, lot 33846
Sweden H3064-33846r.jpg

This specimen was lot 33846 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "Adolf Frederick 2 Ore 1761 MS64 Brown NGC. Crisp details and glossy, yet muted, chocolate-brown surfaces give this offering an almost porcelain-like appearance. A slight rim dent is noticeable around 11 o'clock, but does not detract from the overall quality of the coin." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = 1 mark and 96 öre = 1 riksdaler. This type was struck 1751, 1755-68 and is fairly common up thru Extremely Fine. The KM 518 of 1777 is the last issue of the denomination.

Recorded mintage: 422,000.

Specification: 28.3 g, copper.

Catalog reference: KM 461.
