This specimen was lot 1288 in Jean Elsen sale 153 (Brussels, December 2022), where it sold for €280 (about US$354 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''TOURNAI, Seigneurie, Philippe II (1555-1598), Cu liard, 1582. D/ B. couronné à g. R/ Ecu couronné. Très Beau.'' ([[Netherlands, Spanish|lordship of Tournai]], Philip II, 1555-98, copper liard of 1582. Obverse: crowned bust left; reverse: crowned arms. Very Fine.)"</blockquote> In the French system, a liard was one-fourth of a sou and weighed about 3 grams; the liard of Tournai was a little heavier so we surmise that it was worth more. This type was struck at least until [[Tournai 1589 liard|1589]].
