Metz SB816-22285r.jpg
Metz in 1648

This specimen was lot 22285 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Bishopric of Strassburg & Metz. Testone, 1606. Karl von Lothringen (1593-1607). PCGS MS-63+ Secure Holder. Great strike with a nice band of electric blue tone around the periphery and nice underlying luster. Quite attractive." This type is catalogued in the SCWC as an undated quarter écu; it could also have been used as a quarter thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: silver.
