This specimen was lot 3930 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,231 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BAMBERG, BISTUM, Franz von Hatzfeld, 1633-1642. Dukat 1637, Nürnberg oder Würzburg. GOLD. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Hübsche Goldpatina, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, bishopric of Bamberg, Francis of Hatzfeld, 1633-42, ducat of 1637, Nuremberg or Wurzberg mints. Very rare date, handsome gold patina, about extremely fine.)"
Francis (1596-1642) was also bishop of Wurzburg 1631-42. Bamberg was occupied by the Swedish army 1633-34. This ducat was struck 1635-40 and is among the more available gold coins from this state.
