This specimen was lot 25615 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $5,581.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. Taler 1559, MS64 NGC, a marvelous looking taler, boldly struck on a broad flan, with wide rims, struck slightly off center, its lustrous surfaces toned in beautiful silvery gold iridescent hues. A great example of this early issue featuring on reverse a circle of badges of the guilds surrounding a central shield of the city, around which appears a truncated version of the Latin motto of Zurich." Davenport lists this type for 1558-59.
