Sincona sale 90, lot 1042

This specimen was lot 1042 in Sincona sale 90 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 3,200 CHF (about US$4,229 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Köln, Erzbistum, Adolf III. von Schauenburg, 1547-1556. Goldgulden 1547, Münzstätte vermutlich Deutz. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, archbishopric of Cologne, Adolf III of Schauenburg, 1547-56, goldgulden of 1547, perhaps Deutz mint. Rare, Good very fine.)"

The arcbishop issued two diferent goldgulden in 1547; this one, with the obverse legend "ADOL. AD - M. EC. COL" and the Schaumburg arms, and KM MB117, with the obverse legend "ADOL. ARC - EPS" and the arms of Weid.
