This specimen was lot 18039 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $1,380. The catalog description[1] noted, "Redlands, CA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 600 The First NB Ch. # (P)3892, Large notes only from this Redlands bank, which, like the other three banks chartered here, died off before the inception of Series 1929 examples. This is the "common" Redlands bank, with 13 notes listed in the census, but our records show only seven offerings of any kind from here, the last back in the 1999 Colver collection auction. Very Good."

This specimen was lot 18042 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $2,760. The catalog description[1] noted, "Redlands, CA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 609 First NB Ch. # 12316. The last of the four banks chartered here and the shortest lived, surviving only from 1923 to 1928. Only seven notes are known from the bank, with this the first to be offered since the Colver sale in 1999. Fine+, actually a Very Fine example with a bit of light wallet soiling over a portion of the front."
