large size $5, brown back
This specimen was lot 17980 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $2,185. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pasadena, CA - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 469 The First NB Ch. # 3499. A rare Pasadena Brown Back, as even the Colver collection could muster only a Third Charter Date Back from here. There certainly weren't a lot of folks living in this community when this note was in circulation. Very Good-Fine."
large size $5, plain back
This specimen was lot 17981 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $1,035. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pasadena, CA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 599 The First NB Ch. # (P)3499. Large size notes from this community are always highly sought after, and only 18 examples are listed in the latest census. This is one of just four 1902 Plain Back $5s known. Fine. From CAA's May, 2000 Rosemont sale, lot 1735."
small size $5
This specimen was lot 17982 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $431.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pasadena, CA - $5 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 3499. Not many more small size notes are known from here, as just over two dozen are listed in the census. This Type 1 $5 is the highest grade example of the type known. Very Fine, centered a little low and thus tight at the bottom."
small size $10
This specimen was part of lot 17995 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $632.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pasadena, CA - $10 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 3499; $10 1929 Ty. 1, $10 1929 Ty. 2 The Security NB. A nice trio of $10s from this L.A. suburb. The First NB example is from a scarcer bank and grades Very Good, while the two from The Security NB grade Fine and Very Fine respectively. (Total: 3 notes)."
