This specimen was lot 18333 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $6,325. The catalog description[1] noted, "Upland, CA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 625 The First NB Ch. # 8266. A just plain rare San Bernardino County bank in large, with just six examples listed in the census. The demand for these notes is shown by the price of $2760 realized in our last sale for a small note from here in the same grade as this. What this far more desirable large example, which is a most attractive Fine-Very Fine specimen, will bring tonight is anyone's guess, but our best estimate is...."
