This specimen was lot 23240 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Maria I gold 6400 Reis 1801R, MS62 NGC, bold details and very attractive, full mint brilliance." The type was struck in Brazil 1789-1805.

Recorded mintage: 185,000.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
