This specimen was lot 2649 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $333.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "SIKH EMPIRE: AR rupee, Kashmir, VS1884, star symbol in the obverse field, Fine." This type was struck at Kashmir in the north of India. The Sikhs issued silver rupees in dozens of varieties but the SCWC does not cross reference all of them to specific mints. The Sikhs were crushed in 1849 and their coinage ended.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 11.06 g.
Catalog reference: KM-46.18.
