This type was struck at Lima 1840-56 and at Cuzco 1827-35; the complete span of Peru standing liberty half reales runs 1826-56. Assayer MB is recorded for 1839-56. The date is listed in the SCWC as common, though all Peruvian minors are scarcer in nice condition than the catalog values would indicate. It was legal tender in the United States until 1857 for 6¼¢.
