This specimen was lot 23823 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1764-R, AU Details - Surface Hairlines NGC. Crisply defined with no significant abrasions. Attractive despite having received a light past cleaning. From The RLM Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1751-77 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil.
