Goldberg sale 110, lot 2520
Naples G110-2520r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2520 in Goldberg sale 110 (Los Angeles, June 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States: Naples. Lira, 1812. Joachim Murat Gioacchino Napoleone. Bust right. Reverse: Value within wreath. Reverse adjustment marks. Light gray tone with original luster. Rare date of the two year type. NGC graded MS-61." This type was issued 1812-13 only with the 1813 being quite a bit more available. Altho Murat's regime called itself the kingdom of the Two Sicilies, its sway never included Sicily proper, where the Bourbons held out.

Recorded mintage: 26,806.

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 23 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-257; Pagani-61, Gig-15.
