This specimen was lot 29721 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria gold 1/2 Sovereign 1838 MS64 PCGS, Royal mint. Bright yellow-gold surfaces immediately capture the eye's attention with smooth satin texture and minimal abrasions adding to the appeal. Conditionally rare at this near-Gem grade with only one coin graded at the MS64 level at PCGS and a single example graded finer." This bust was used on the half sovereign, or ten shilling coin, 1838-85. This is a better date.

Recorded mintage: 273,000 (a better date).

Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold, .117 troy oz AGW.
