This quinto was struck 1888-1917 in Lima, Peru. Most dates are readily available but 1914, 1915 and 1917 are scarce. Varieties and overdates abound, including 1899/8 and 1899/88. The type was replaced by a copper-nickel twenty centavos in 1918. An earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was struck 1863-75 (KM 191).
Recorded mintage: 700,000.
Specification: 5 g, .900 fine silver, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM 205.2.
