This specimen is a later date of a series of bronze centavos issue in Peru 1901-49. Numerous varieties exist, depending on the spacing and size of the legends. This is the "curved centavo" type (KM 208.2). In 1950, the coin was changed to zinc.

Recorded mintage: 1,225,000.

Specification: 5 g, bronze, 19 mm diameter, plain edge.
