This type was struck for Guatemala by the Royal Mint in London 1928-38 and at Philadelphia in 1943. A similar type with slightly different lettering (KM 239.1) was issued 1925-49. In 1949, the denomination was redesigned to place the Monolito de Quirigua, a Mayan stele, on the obverse, which design is still in use, tho it is no longer issued in silver. This date is common except in uncirculated.
Recorded mintage: 500,000.
Specification: 3.33 g, .720 fine silver, .077 oz ASW, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM 239.2.
