This type was struck at the Bern mint 1879-31 and 1940-80. The alloy was changed to aluminum bronze for 1981-2015. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.
Recorded mintage: 30,000,000 plus 2,400 proofs.
Specification: 2 g, copper-nickel, 17.15 mm diameter, plain edge.
