Sincona sale 80, lot 2195

This specimen was lot 2195 in Sincona sale 80 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 12,000 CHF (about US$14,382 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"DENMARK | misc, Christian V. 1670-1699. 2 Dukaten 1699, Kopenhagen. Münzmeister C. Wineke. Rv. Segelschiff im Hafen von Christiansborg in Guinea (Afrika). Sehr selten. (kingdom of Denmark, Christian V, 1670-99, double ducat of 1699, Copenhagen mint. Reverse: sailing ship in the harbor of Christiansborg in Guinea (Africa). Very rare. NGC AU58.)"

This is one of several double ducats (including KM 458, 459, 460, 461) issued in 1699, all rare. It was accompanied by a single ducat (KM 453).
