The specimen shown is from a type struck for Guatemala 1971 and 1975-76. Guatemala still issues 25 centavo pieces with the head of a Mayan woman (see KM 269, 278). The alloy for this type was changed from silver to copper-nickel in 1965, same as the United States.
Recorded mintage: 2,850,000.
Specification: 8 g, copper-nickel, 27 mm diameter.
