This coin, called a dixième d'écu au bandeau, was the French equivalent of a ten cent piece. In the coinage system of the ancien régime, the dixième d'écu = 12 sols. The type was struck 1741-72 and is recorded for the Paris mint ("A") for most of those years. This issue is from the Dijon mint (mintmark "P").

Recorded mintage: 37,230 (priced[1] about double the common date such as 1746-A).

Specification: 2.95 g, .917 fine silver, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/2 no. 587, Dr/4 no. 850, KM 511.16 (unlisted date).
