This specimen was lot 1804 in Sincona sale 22 (Zurich, May 2015), where it sold for 170 CHF (about US$214 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Graubünden, Chur, Bistum, Paul Ziegler von Ziegelberg, 1503-1541 Batzen 1527. Gutes sehr schön-sehr schön. (Switzerland, bishopric of Chur, Paul Ziegler von Ziegelberg, 1503-1541, batzen of 1527, very fine or better.)"
Chur, on the upper reaches of the Rhine, was then and is now a town of utmost insignificance, yet managed to issue a long string of coins in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Later Swiss batzen of the eighteenth century were four kreuzer or one fortieth of a thaler. This coin seems a little heavy for that unless it is only billon.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 3.01 g.
Catalog reference: HMZ 2-380i.
