This specimen was lot 6077 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €700 (about US$974 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NORWEGEN, KÖNIGREICH, Oskar II. 1872-1905. 50 Öre 1895, Kongsberg. Prachtexemplar. Feine Patina, Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Norway, Oscar II, 1872-1905, fifty ore of 1895, Kongsberg mint. Choice example, fine patina, uncirculated.)"
In 1907, Norway obtained a divorce from Sweden and became an independent kingdom under a Danish prince. Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark. The specimen shown here is from of a type struck 1877, 1880, 1885-1904 and was accompanied by one and two kroner of similar design. Many dates are very scarce. This one is a slightly better date.
Recorded mintage: 200,000.
Specification: 5 g, .600 fine silver, this specimen 4.98 g.
