Jean Elsen sale 137, lot 967

This specimen was lot 967 in Jean Elsen sale 137 (Brussels, June 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XIII (1610-1643), Cu double tournois, 1624O, Riom. 3e type. D/ Petit b. juvénile à d., l. et cuir., au col plat. R/ Trois lis dans le champ. Très Beau. (kingdom of France, Louis XIII, 1610-43, copper double tournois of 1624, Riom mint, third type. Obverse: armored, laureate juvenile bust right in flat collar; reverse: three fleurs-de-lys in the field. Very fine.)"

This mint is not listed in Droulers. Gadoury shows two types; this one, with a laureate bust (Gad-8, rarity R) and a bare head bust (Gad-9, rarity R4).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.13 g, copper, 20-21 mm diameter, this specimen 2,64 g.
