This specimen was part of lot 3020 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), which sold for $11,162.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. Three Piece Commemorative Proof Set, 1966. Fr-617/9; KM-PS4; Huszar-2357/9. Issued to Commemorate the Defense of Szigetvar and the 400th anniversary of the war against the Turks. The 100 Forint (Szaz) with a mintage of only 3,300 pieces, the 500 Forint (Otszaz) with a mintage of only 1,100 pieces and the 1000 Forint (Ezer) with a mintage of only 330 pieces which was only issued in sets. Brilliant proof surfaces with stark contrast to the frosted devices. An attractive evenly matched set that deserves a premium bid. All are in PCGS secure holders. From the Mezo-Toth Kalman Collection." This denomination was used for several gold commemoratives 1961-68.
