Great Britain 1829 6 pence

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70707

This specimen was lot 70707 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, 1829. NGC MS-63. Proof-like fields, toned and attractive." This three year type is noted for 1826-29. The mintage recorded here represents a substantial retreat from the levels of 1817-20, when millions were made; this type is decidedly expensive in nice condition. Large mintages would resume in 1834.
