This specimen was lot 70707 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, 1829. NGC MS-63. Proof-like fields, toned and attractive." This three year type is noted for 1826-29. The mintage recorded here represents a substantial retreat from the levels of 1817-20, when millions were made; this type is decidedly expensive in nice condition. Large mintages would resume in 1834.
Recorded mintage: 404,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 2.82 g, .925 fine silver, .084 troy oz.
Catalog reference: S-3815; KM-698.
