This specimen was lot 70435 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 10 Kroner, 1913-VBP. PCGS MS-66. Tied with one other example as finest certified at NGC. Blazing luster with the appearance of having been made yesterday." The Scandinavian countries (Norway, Denmark and Sweden) formed their own monetary union in competition with the Latin Monetary Union based on the French twenty francs d'or. Like that union, the Scandinavian Monetary Union lasted until World War One blasted all hard currencies out of existence. This type was struck 1913 and 1917 and represents the last gold ten kronor.
