This specimen was lot 1135 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Royaume, Henri III (1574-1589), billon douzain, 1576M, Toulouse. 2e type. D/ Ecu de France couronné, entre deux H. R/ Croix cantonnée de deux lis et deux H. Rare. Très Beau. (kingdom of France, Henry III, 1574-89, billon douzain of 1576, Toulouse mint, second type. Obverse: crowned arms of France between two "H's"; reverse: cross cantonned with two lilies and two "H's". Rare, Very Fine.)"
This douzain is the second type struck for Henry III (the first type has four crowns on the reverse). It was minted only at Poitiers, La Rochelle and Toulouse 1575-78. It had a face value of 12 deniers tournois.
