France 1717O tenth ecu rev Raz.jpg

Shown is a tenth écu vertugadin of the Riom mint, struck while Louis XV was a minor. Droulers[1] notes the 1717-O as scarce. The specimen shown is a "flan neuf." The type was struck 1715-18 in substantial numbers but was replaced by the 1/10 d'écu de France-Navarre, which is only 2.44 grams. After the reform of 1726, the 1/10 écu was 2.95 grams.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.06 g, .917 fine silver, .090 troy oz ASW, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by Norbert Roëttiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 no. 847, Dr/2 no. 556, KM 432.3.
