This specimen was lot 2124 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €5,000 (about US$6,459 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SIEBENBÜRGEN, FÜRSTEN Gabriel Bethlen, 1613-1629. Doppelte Reichstalerklippe 1627, MC, Kaschau. Geharnischtes Hüftbild r. mit der Rechten das Zepter schulternd//Gekröntes, vierfeldiges Wappen mit dem Familienwappen Bethlen als Mittelschild. RR Hübsche Patina, kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, kl. Druckstelle im Feld der Vorderseite, fast vorzüglich.'' (principality of Transylvania, Gabriel Bethlen, 1613-29, double thaler of 1627, Kaschau mint. Obverse: armored bust to right holding scepter; reverse: crowned quartered arms with Bethlen arms on escutcheon. Rare, toned, rim cracks, dent in obverse field, choice extremely fine.)"</blockquote> Gabriel Bethlen, the prince, was a Calvinist who allied himself with the Ottomans against the Catholic Hapsburgs. Another rare and expensive thaler from this locale. This type also exists round ([[Transylvania 1627-MC 2 thaler Dav-4718|Dav-4718E]]) and is even rarer thus.
