This specimen was lot 5456 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$15,072 including buyers' fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SCHWEIZ. Solothurn. Stadt und Kanton. Taler 1563, Solothurn. Solothurner Wappen zwischen S - O, darüber nimbierter Doppeladler. Die mindere Jahreszahl 63 am Ende der Umschrift. Rv. Hl. Ursus im Harnisch nach rechts. Von grösster Seltenheit. Kleiner Schrötlingsriss. Tuschzahl im Wappen. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Sammlung Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, Los 5937. Exemplar der Sammlung J. und H. Simmen, Auktion Leu Numismatik 66, Zürich, Mai 1996, Los 115. Dieser Taler zeigt eindrücklich, wie bedeutende Münzen regelmässig auftreten und dabei der Eindruck entstehen könnte, sie seien ja gar nicht so selten. So finden wir immer wieder dieses Exemplar in alten Sammlungen, und es ist in vielen Werken auch abgebildet, wie in der ersten Monographie von J. u. H. Simmen, in Simmen-HMZ (SMK VII) oder bei Davenport.'' ([[Switzerland]], [[Switzerland, Solothurn|canton of Solothurn]], thaler of 1563, Solothurn mint. Obverse: Solothurn coat of arms between S - O, above it a nimbate double-headed eagle. The last two digits of the year, 63, at the end of the inscription. Reverse: St. Ursus in armor facing right. Of the highest rarity, Minor flan crack. Ink number in the coat of arms, Extremely Fine. This thaler impressively demonstrates how significant coins appear regularly, potentially creating the impression that they are not so rare after all. This particular example is found repeatedly in old collections and is illustrated in many works, such as the first monograph by J. and H. Simmen, in Simmen-HMZ (SMK VII), and in Davenport.)"</blockquote> This is the final date of a type struck 1551-54, 1561, 1563 and undated. Davenport makes the 1563 issue a separate type because the obverse shield breaks the circle of pearls.
