This specimen was lot 30092 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $15,275. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "A Phenomenal Superb Gem of this Classic Low-Mintage Issue. Schaumburg-Lippe. Adolf Georg gold 20 Mark 1874-B MS67+ PCGS, Hannover mint, Mintage: 3,000. A marvelous survivor of this highly coveted low-mintage issue that was only minted during 1874. Expertly engraved throughout, the design was translated from die to flan with outstanding care, and the central motifs are fully crisp with even satiny texture that runs from the highpoints down into the fields. While other Superb-Gem examples of the type have survived, subtle orange-gold tone that meanders about the present piece really sets it apart, giving it an often-craved distinctive appearance. Quite likely the finest example to ever appear in an American auction, and as a result, an absolute certainty to garner droves of attention from the domestic collector of German rarities as well as those abroad. From The Kaiser Collection of [[Germany|German]] Gold Coins." This and a [[Schaumburg-Lippe 1898-A 20 mark|twenty mark]] of 1898 are the only gold issues of this tiny state during the Wilhelmine empire.
