This specimen was lot 1596 in Jean Elsen sale 154 (Brussels, March 2023), where it sold for €240 (about US$311 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''ALLEMAGNE, SAXE, Johann Georg Ier (1615-1656), AR demi-Taler, 1647 CR, Dresde. D/ B. de l'électeur à d., ten. une épée sur l'épaule et un heaume. R/ Ecu orné. Très Beau.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Saxony|electorate of Saxony]], John George I, 1615-56, silver half thaler of 1647, Dresden mint. Obverse: half-length bust of the elector to right, holding a sword and a helmet; reverse: ornate arms. Very Fine.)"</blockquote> This half thaler was struck 1630-56 and is probably the most common Saxon half thaler.
