This specimen was lot 2128 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €5,500 (about US$7,654 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SACHSEN-WEIMAR, HERZOGTUM, AB 1741 SACH, Ernst August Constantin, 1748-1758, bis 1756 unter Vormundschaft Friedrichs III. von Gotha. Dukat o. J. Eisenach. GOLD. RR Etwas unregelmäßiger Schrötling, vorzüglich.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach|duchy of Saxe-Weimar]], Ernest August Constantine, 1748-58, until 1756 under the regency of Frederick III of Gotha, undated ducat, Eisenach mint. Very rare, rather irregular flan, extremely fine.)"</blockquote> Friedberg attributes this rare undated and unsigned issue to Ernst August I (1741-48). We have joined the SCWC in filing this rare type under Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, the result of the merger between Saxe-Eisenach and Saxe-Weimar. The new state survived until World War One.
