This specimen was lot 22400 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $517. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Germany|GERMANY]]. Saxe-Weimar. Taler, 1602. Friedrich Wilhelm I & Johann III (1573-1605). NGC EF Details--Surface Hairlines. SCARCE type. Lightly toned." This particular version of Saxe-Weimar would lapse on the duke's death in 1605. It would be revived several times before World War One wiped away all the German principalities. This type is scarce but not rare.
