This specimen was lot 1485 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 950 (about US$1,252 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Konventionstaler 1812. Saalfeld. Gutes vorzüglich.'' (Reuss-Obergreiz, convention thaler of 1812, Saalfeld mint, good extremely fine.)"</blockquote> This is the last convention thaler (28.06 g) from this tiny locale and is rare. Later ''vereinsthalers'' (18.52 g) were also minted in small numbers but were saved, rendering them available today.
