This specimen was lot 55740 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Germany|GERMANY]]. [[German States, Regensburg|Regensburg]]. Taler, 1774-GCB. PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed, EF Details." This convention thaler was issued in 1764 with several variations in the emperor's bust (Dav-2623, -2424 and -2424A, shown here). All are scarce. The solder marks on the reverse are classic signs of the previous presence of a brooch mount.
