This specimen was lot 1261 in Sincona sale 22 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,633 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Celle, Herzogtum, August der Ältere, 1611-1636. 1611-1633 als Bischof von Ratzeburg Taler 1623. Ratzeburg. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich.'' ([[Germany]], duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle, Augustus the Older as bishop of Ratzeburg, 1611-36, thaler of 1623, rare in this grade, choice extremely fine.)"</blockquote> While [[German States, Ratzeburg|Ratzeburg]] issued several "wildman" thalers that aren't too expensive, this mounted knight type is very scarce. Ratzeburg was annexed to [[German States, Mecklenburg-Schwerin|Mecklenburg]] in 1648, at the conclusion of the Thirty Years' War.
