This specimen was lot 1848 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €11,000 (about US$15,309 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Wilhelm I. 1861-1888. Vereinskrone 1868, A. GOLD. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. Erworben 1954 bei der Firma Grabow, Berlin.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Prussia|kingdom of Prussia]], William I, 1861-88, union crown of 1868. Choice example, about Uncirculated. Bought from Grabow in Berlin.)"</blockquote> In 1855, the ''friedrichs d'or'' was dropped in favor of the gold ''krone''. The ''krone'' was also minted by Austria, Saxony ([[Saxony 1857-F krone Fr-2902|KM 1197]]), Hannover ([[Hannover 1858-B krone|KM 232]]), Bavaria ([[Bavaria 1863 krone Fr-280|Fr-280]]) and Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel ([[Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1859-B krone Fr-750|Fr-750]]) but does not seem to have been a success, as survivors are few. The ''krone'' was dropped in favor of the gold twenty mark after unification in 1871. This krone was struck 1861-70.
