This specimen was lot 958 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 8,000 CHF (about US$9,904 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''DEUTSCHLAND Pommern, Herzogtum Karl XII. von Schweden, 1697-1718. Dukat 1706, Stettin. Brustbild, grosses Portrait. Münzmeister Johann Memmies (IM). Sehr selten. Sehr schön.'' ([[Germany]], duchy of Pomerania, Charles XII of Sweden (1697-1718), ducat of 1706, Stettin mint, large bust. Very rare, very fine.)"</blockquote> Pomerania was ceded to [[Sweden]] by the treaty of Westphalia in 1648 and was held by them until lost in the Great Northern War in 1718. Charles XII won every battle against Peter the Great of Russia, except the last one, a disaster for Sweden.
