This type, issued from 2005, replaced a brass centimo ([[Peru 1998 5 centimos|KM 304]]) issued 1991-2006. In 1991, the currency was reformed, one nuevo sol = one million intis. Surprisingly enough, the nuevo sol has remained stable against the dollar (US$1 = S/. 2.77, October 2013, US$1 = S/. 3.63, January 2021).
