This specimen was lot 944 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''DEUTSCHLAND Ostfriesland, Grafschaft Edzard II. und Johann von Rietberg, 1566-1591. Taler 1568. Beschnitten. Fast sehr schön-sehr schön.'' (County of [[German States, Ostfriesland|Ostfriesland]], Edward II and John of Rietberg, 1566-91, thaler of 1568. Clipped, very fine.)"</blockquote> This is the first thaler from this scarce locality this author has been able to locate. It was issued 1568-75. The weight (24.49 g) reflects the loss from clipping.
