This specimen was lot 22613 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $384. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Germany|GERMANY]]. Nordhausen. 1/24 Taler (Groschen), 1660-IK. NGC MS-62. A VERY RARE and seldom seen issue, this near choice minor exhibits a fairly sharp strike and immensely pleasing cabinet tone. The first of this type which we have offered." Nordhausen was a small and obscure imperial free city surrounded by Hannover, Prussia and Saxony. We have filed it under its nearest neighbor, [[German States, Stolberg|Stolberg]]. It was annexed to Prussia during Napoleon's rearrangement of Germany. It issued a few coins in the seventeenth century, all rare. This type is not mentioned in the SCWC, which lists a thaler (KM 32) and double thaler (KM 33) for 1660.
