This specimen was lot 1164 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[France]]: Navarre. Florin, undated. Charles II (Carlos II) (le Mauvals), Conte D'Evreux, 1349-1387. St. John the Baptist. Reverse: Florentine lily. Listed as very rare. PCGS graded Extremely Fine Detail (Damage)." Wikipedia comments, "Charles II (10 October 1332 – 1 January 1387), called Charles the Bad, was King of Navarre 1349–1387 and Count of Évreux 1343–1387." Charles II was an intriguer, turncoat and counterfeiter who spent his life scheming to become king of France but never succeeded. This is one of two gold coins attributed to him, the other being a rare gold real (Fr-168). No further gold coins were struck in Navarre until the late fifteenth century, under a different dynasty.
