This specimen was lot 186 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$531 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''DEUTSCHLAND | Mansfeld, Grafschaft | Hinterortische Linie Schraplau. Gebhard VII., Johann Georg I. und Peter Ernst I. 1547-1558. 1/4 Taler 1547, Eisleben. Der hl. Georg hinter dem unbehelmten Wappen. Rv. Zweifach behelmtes Wappen. Sehr selten / Very rare. Sehr schön.'' ([[Germany]], county of [[German States, Mansfeld|Mansfeld-Schraplau]], Gebhard VII, John George I and Peter Ernest I, 1547-58, quarter thaler of 1547, Eisleben mint. Obverse: St. George; reverse: two helmeted arms. Very fine.)"</blockquote> This type was struck 1547 only in Mansfeld-Schraplau, a county of utmost insignificance except for its silver mines which provided the material for an abundance of thalers. Mansfeld-Schraplau was erected in 1501 and fell extinct in 1602 and passed to Mansfeld-Hinterort. This is from the fourth of six different issues of joint coinages.
