This specimen was lot 1468 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$840 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''GERMANY, Mansfeld, Grafschaft, Vorderortlinie Bornstedt. Wolfgang III. und Johann Georg II., 1631-1638. Taler o. J. Eisleben. Selten. Sehr schön. Schrötlingsriss.'' ([[Germany]], county of Mansfeld, Bornstedt line, Wolfgang III and John George II, 1631-38, undated thaler, Eisleben mint. Rare, Very fine, Flan defect.)"</blockquote> This undated type is attributed to 1640 in the SCWC. As Wolfgang III died in 1638, we side with Sincona's dating of 1631-38. It is not expensive; its price may be depressed by the availability of the many similar Mansfeld thalers.
