This specimen was lot 75677 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $432. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Spain|SPAIN]]. Aragon. 1/2 Florin, ND (1387-95). Mallorca Mint. Juan I. NGC EF-45. An example of the Italian monetary influence in medieval Spain. Readily identifiable, even with some legends partially off-flan." Altho Juan was indeed king of Aragon, this half florin and the accompanying florin (Fr-4/Cayón-2075) were made at [[Coinage of Valencia|Mallorca]], the largest of the Balearic Islands. These are the only gold coins of this ruler.
