This specimen was lot 2239 in Künker sale 404 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €600 (about US$787 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''DAS ERZBISTUM MAINZ. ERZBISCHOF DIETHER II. VON ISENBURG ZU BÜDINGEN, ZUM ZWEITEN MAL, 1475-1482. Die Münzstätte Mainz. Goldgulden o. J. (1475/1476), Mainz. Christus thront v. v. in gotischem Gestühl, unten Familienwappen von Isenburg//Schräg gestelltes Blumenkreuz, in den Winkeln die Wappen von Mainz, Köln, Pfalz/Bayern und Trier. GOLD. R Leichte Bearbeitungsspuren am Rand, sehr schön. Exemplar der e-Live Auction Fritz Rudolf Künker 74, November 2022, Nr. 2247.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Mainz|archbishopric of Mainz]], Dieter II of Isenburg and Budingen, second reign, 1475-82, undated goldgulden, circa 1475-76, Mainz mint. obverse: Christ enthroned under a Gothic dais, below, the arms of Isenburg; reverse: diagonal floriate cross cantonned with the arms of Mainz, Cologne, Palatinate and Trier. Rare, tool marks on the edge, very fine.)"</blockquote> Friedberg attributes this goldgulden to this prelate's first reign (1459-61). Dieter was elected twice as archbishop, first in 1459 and again in 1476. On the first election, he refused to send the customary 20,000 gulden to the pope who therefore refused to confirm him, nominating Adolf von Nassau in his place. Dieter was elected again in 1476 on Adolf's death and served until 1482.
